Hauppage's Broadway (MSRP $199 USD) lets you stream TV to any device. This includes all apple iOS devices, and even Android devices (anything that can use flash) All you need is a web compatible device that can open a web page. Hauppauge is a leader in TV gadget technology, and has been around since 1992, so they always have something on the 'must have' list! This is no exception!

All that is required to use Broadway is a cable TV or satellite feed and an internet connection. Hauppage's Broadway connects to your TV's signal first, then through Broadway, it converts the TV signal to wireless for reception by your device(s). Once connected via Ethernet, simply visit the configuration website and start the process.

Simplified, the Broadway device lets you watch anything you can watch on TV - on a portable device. Additionally, you can watch anything anywhere, using WiFi and an internet connection. Security Sphere 2012 is a computer malware similar to 'Security Shield'. This malware is a rogue anti-spyware program that poses to be legitimate security program. Security Shield is actually a program that displays false security results and false alerts about the state of your computer. In addition, it hijacks your computer so that you cannot run any applications.

Security Sphere 2012 is installed silently through visits to hacked web sites, exploits, and fake online scanners. Sometimes Security Shield and other similar malware programs are downloaded simply by visiting sponsored sites within google search results. Once installed, the infection randomly creates folders on C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\, in (Windows XP), or C:\ProgramData, on (Vista and Windows 7) systems. It is then be configured to start automatically when you login to your computer.

To remove Security Shield 2012, simply follow these steps:

- Reboot your computer into Safe Mode with Networking. To do this, turn your computer off and then back on and immediately when you see anything on the screen, start tapping the F8 key on your keyboard.Using the arrow keys on your keyboard, select Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter on your keyboard. Windows will now boot into safe mode with networking and prompt you to login as a user. make sure to login as the same user you were previously logged in with in the normal Windows mode.

When in Safe More with Networking, we must first end the processes that belong to Security Sphere 2012 so that it does not interfere with the cleaning procedure. To do this, please download RKill to your desktop from the following link.

RKill Download
Once RKILL is downloaded, double-click on the iExplore.exe icon in order to automatically attempt to stop any processes associated with Security Sphere 2012 and other Rogue programs. When RKILL has finished, you will then be able to proceed with the rest of the guide. Do not reboot your computer after running RKill as the malware programs will start again.If you continue having problems running RKill, you can download the other renamed versions of RKill from the RKill download page. Both of these files are renamed copies of RKill, which you can try instead. Please note that the download page will open in a new browser window or tab.

Now that the program has been terminated, you have to remove its associated files from the pc.

You've probably seen these just about everywhere now. These odd looking squares are popping up just about anywhere you can think of.

They are called 'QR' Codes (abbreviated from Quick Response code) and are a type of matrix barcode (two-dimensional code) designed to be read by smartphones. The QR code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The QR code's encoded information may be plain text, a URL, or other data.

The real question is - What's the benefit of these QR codes? Why do we use them and why were they even created in the first place? The answers is simple - they are an easy and simple way to deliver information to someone via a smartphone. You can send them to your webpage, offer them a message etc. Just by scanning this little square with a QR code reader.

The Windows XP 'Recovery' is a malware program that is widely infecting computers under the guise of system optimization software. Windows XP Recovery will install itself on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 computers providing false system information. It's purpose is to deceive computer users into purchasing a licensed full version version of the program. Once loaded on to the computer, this product will launch a system scan and warn of hard disk drive errors, junk files and folders, numerous registry errors, and several outdated drivers. All are false and do not exist on the system.
To further scare computer users into purchasing the full version of Windows XP Recovery, it will flood the computer with system task bar. One Media Player To Rule Them All

Just because the biggest and most recognized company makes a media player doesn't mean it's the best - or even any good for that matter. As with many things in life and on the internet, the biggest isn't always the best.

Specifically, Microsoft's windows media player is the most popular, but by far not the best. The biggest problem is a media player's ability to play all movie formats. Media Player is notorious for not supporting most movie formats. The problem lies in the video decoder portion of the media player. Movies are created (encoded) with specific formats such as AVI, MKV, MPG and so on. These formats require a decoder to be able to view them.Therein lies the problem. If a movie is encoded and you do not have the proper decoder, the movie will not play. You may get sound and no video etc. Windows media player will automatically attempt to download the proper "codec" but almost always fails to find the proper codec.

Competing movies players such as VideoLan Technologies (VLC Player) pretty much eliminate this problem. VLC media player support many video formats and plays just about every format without issue. Facebook Email Scam

With the recent announcement of facebook adding @facebook.com email to user's accounts, the scammers have started to target users.

Security experts are warning of a new Facebook 'phishing' scam designed to steal your facebook log-in credentials. The facebook phishing scam promises you a '@facebook.com' email address. but is actually a trap to gather log-ins and passwords for the malicious site.

"The first sign of phishing is to get your @facebook.com email address before someone else takes it.
"Then, a bit.ly link redirects you to a Facebook App which contains an iFrame that points to a compromised site that is hosting the phishing page.
"Once you click 'Next', your information is sent to the phishers and your account is hijacked immediately. Then, your facebook status is updated to try to scam friends/family."

Prevent this, and other attacks, is to revisit Facebook's settings page and select the option that 'informs users when an attempt to access their account has been made on another computer'

Facebook is rolling out a full redesign of it's Facebook 'Pages'. The changes will make Facebook Pages look and operate more like facebook user profiles. The new Facebook Pages re-design was briefly seen last December. As it stands, Facebook accidentally launched the new pages format and then quickly took it down. The facebook pages update not only removed the popular tabs, but it also granted facebook page administrators the ability to post and comment on other Facebook Pages through a new “Login as Page” feature. The facebook pages prototype features made the grade for today’s new facebook pages launch.

The big difference will notice will be the new layout.
- The left-hand menu for editing pages has been removed in favor of a new navigation menu that replaces the old tabbing system.
- The left-hand “Information” box is gone. Facebook Pages admins can now add info about their brand at the top of the page under the main title.
- The right-hand menu has also been changed. There is now a section that features the facebook page’s admins, as well as a section that shows users how many of their friends have also “liked” that particular page. - Facebook Pages can now feature relevant photos at the top.

Not to be forgotten are the newest methods to attack computers and cell phones. These new attacks focus on bluetooth, SMS and even ipods! Not only are there the usual trojans, malware, and phishing attacks, there are not also 'smishing', and 'bluebugging'. To learn more, read the definitions below;

Smishing or "SMS phishing" is a phishing attack that specifically targets cellular phones. Victim receive an SMS message with a hyperlink wherein a malware automatically finds its way to the cellular phone, or leads the victim to a phishing site formatted for cellular phones. The term was brought on by David Rayhawk in a McAfee Avert Labs blog.

Botnet (Zombie PCs) a "Robot" and "Network," a Botnet is any number of internet connected computers that inconspicuously forward e-mails (which include spam, malware, or viruses) to other computers on the internet. These infected computers, also known as "zombies" deliver DoS attacks (Denial of Service) and often rely on thousands of zombie PCs.

BlueBugging: (not to be confused with bluesnarfing) allows a skilled person to illegally access a cellular phone via Bluetooth wireless technology. More often than not, going unnoticed to the phone's owner. A vulnerability such as this allows phone calls, and SMS messages to be read and sent, phonebook contacts to be erased, phone conversations to be tapped, and other malicious activities. Fortunately, widespread impact is minimized because of the range of bluethooth technology. Access is only attainable within a 10 meter range of the phone.

Pod Slurping: Coined by US security expert Abe Usher; is when your iPod or any portable USB storage device begins to surreptitiously copy large amounts of files from your computer to its hard drive. Pod slurping is becoming an increasing security risk to companies and government agencies.

Ransomware makes a computer unusable, then demands payment in order for the user to regain full access. Ransomware is also commonly referred to as a "cryptovirus" or "cryptotrojan." Examples of Ransomware include Gpcode.AK, Krotten, and Archiveus. Ransomware was originally a with a trojan called PC Cyborg, created by a Dr. Joseph Popp.

Scareware is software that tricks computer users into downloading or purchasing it, under the guise of fixing their computer. In reality the faux anti-virus program is the problem itself. Scareware programs often run a fictitious virus and malware scan, and then present the user with a list of malicious programs or problems that must be corrected. The scareware informs the computer user that in order to fix these "problems" it will require the user to pay a fee for a "full" or "registered" version of the software. Examples of scareware include: System Security, Anti-Virus 2010, and Registry Cleaner XP.

Sidejacking: Sidejacking is a hacking technique used to gain access to your website specific accounts. Websites typically encrypt your password so it cannot be stolen, but then send you an unencrypted "session-id". The session-id is either some random data in the URL, or more often, random data in a HTTP cookie. A hacker who finds the session-id can then use it to gain access to the respective account. Thus enabling the hacker ability to read your email, look at what you've bought online, or control your social network account, and so on. Robert Graham, who pulled together a variety of known and new vulnerabilities and packaged them into an automated session snatcher, was responsible for this term.

How To Remove HDDDiagnostic

Similar to my other posts about malware programs such as how to remove XP AntiVirus 2010 and how to remove XP Guardian 2010 another nasty malware program has cropped up. This one is called HDDDiagnostic.

HDDdiagnostic pretends to find problems with your hard drive and warns you that you have no free space, or there arew critical errors, it even goes so far as to warn you that you have no hard drive. That is funny actually, because unless you are running Windows off of a USB stick, or a CD\DVD installation, you have to have a hard drive to actually even be seeing these errors - but I can sympathize with those that are not computer savvy. This program may seem legitimate simply because it does not appear to do any harm....it is not claiming that there are virus on the pc etc. So many may believe it is a windows error.

Some typical HDDDiagnostic errors:

Windows detected a hard drive problem.
A hard drive error occurred while starting the application.

HDDDiagnostic will display false error messages and system tray popup notifications such as these:

Critical Error
Hard Drive not found. Missing hard drive.

Critical Error
RAM memory usage is critically high. RAM memory failure.

Critical Error
Windows can't find hard disk space. Hard drive error

There are several removal methods starting from simple to difficult.

1) The first step is to identify the malware.
Download rkill to kill the rogue process

2) Delete HDDDiagnostic using Add or Remove Programs.

3) Empty your temp folders; such as:
c:\temp
c:\system32\temp
c:\documents and settings\current logged on user\local settings\temp
Note: Current logged on user is the folder name of your windows account.
Press CTRL + ALT + DEL to see the current logged on user (it will say logged on as:)

4) Empty the recycle bin
5) Restore the pc to an earlier time ( start\programs\accessories]system tools\system restore

Advanced HDDDiagnostic Removal Guide:

1. Open process explorer (CTRL-ALT-DEL)
2. End any process similar to a random numbers eg: (7969594392.exe) process.
3. Open your temp directory :
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Local Settings\Temp
Windows Vista\7: C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\Temp

4. Delete all files from that directory. Some files may be locked by the malware.
5. Open process explorer again and end explorer.exe process.
6. Create new task "explorer.exe"
7. Delete the files which were locked
8. Search for occurrence of "random number" (or whatever the process's number was)
9. Delete all the entries that refer to that program name
10. Scan your computer with anti-malware software.

Using Microsoft (VMware) Virtual Machine technologies, you can download and run a Windows XP session from within Windows 7. Essentially, a virtual machine is identical to installing an operating system on a PC. A virtual machine is a file that contains the entire computer hardware, bios, settings and operating system.

The Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750 is a solid keyboard, with a very quiet and comfortable design which is sort of similar to Apple designs - all smooth edges and clean colouring.

Internet-based phone service is not new. Skype has been around for years. Skype lets Americans talk to each other free of charge, or for a mere few pennies per minute for long distance.

Wednesday, Google started rolling out Internet phone service. The Google Phone interface is built into the Gmail interface. Google promotes it as a fallback feature for Gmail’s video chat system, just in case the other party isn’t sitting in front of a computer. It is not just for your video chat partners though, it is for use anytime!

Google Phone works like this: A new button is added to the Gmail interface, called 'Call Phones'. It launches a small window with a telephone-style keypad, or simply use the digit box to enter a name or a phone number. If they are a gmail contact, their number will come up from you Gmail address book.

To use the google phone feature, you need to install a plug-in for your browser from Google. Fortunately, it works with all the popular web browers - including Apple’s Safari on Macs.

Google Phone usee your computer’s built-in microphone and speakers, (or USB headset)Once you’ve installed the Google Phone plug-in, and configured your computer to use the audio hardware, making a call is easy.

The person you are calling will see the caller ID 760-705-8888, which is Google's network. You may use Google Voice service and setup a Non-Google Voice number as well. Google Voice gives you a Google-assigned number so Google can handle your incoming calls and voicemail. You will need to sign up with Google Voice if you want to receive calls within Gmail. Like Skype, Google’s prices are hard to beat, best of all, calls within the United States and Canada are free. Calls to other countries average around two cents a minute. Google has posted its rates for each country. (77 cents a minute for calls to North Korea.)

How To Remove Copyright Violation Notice

There is a common misconception in this malware\rogueware\scareware program.
Most tutorials on the internet are calling this program by the name IQmanager, and although this may be true in many cases, it also goes by the name "ApManager" and displays an icon on your desktop.

The malware\rogueware\scareware 'Copyright Violation Notice' is a particularly difficult annoyance to remove because it renders your task manager, and start menu inoperable. This you cannot end the process, or even access your start menu to find out the process name.

Fortunately, I have devised an alternate removal method.

Before you start, you will need these tools:
1) Sysinternals suite from Microsoft Here
(You can also run sysinternals directly from the web)

2) Download Malware Bytes Anti malware demo, or purchase from the link

Once you have downloaded these programs, the next step is to gain access to your computer to run these programs.

That is simple:
1) Disconnect from the internet
2) Follow the link on the bottom left corner (icpp-online) its a fake website and a fake company, however, you simply need to have your web browser open. It will timeout and not be able to load a web page. That is what we want.

Now, navigate to the address bar and enter your c:\ drive.
Browse your hard drive until you find the downloaded process explorer Suite. Unzip it and run procexp.exe. navigate through the running processes and kill the process called apmanager.

This will close the Copyright Violation Alert, then you can run anti malware bytes to scan and clean your system. you must immediately reboot when prompted though, otherwise, you risk running apmanager again and reinfecting your system. Some scareware programs will relaunch when triggered by another program, or after a set interval. Once you reboot, you will remove these possibilities as well.

Protecting Yourself From The Installation is as simple as closing the application, however you cannot close it by clicking the X in the top right corner.

If you see anything like the image box (above):

Immediately press ALT + F4 (hold down ALT, then press F4)
This will close the application without invoking it.

Do Not Click ANYTHING or anywhere in the popup box.
(not even the X to close it)
The entire box itself is simply the method to install the program.
Although it appears to be a fully functional application, it is in fact waiting for you to click it.

PayPal has more than 8 million users in Canada accounting for more than $2 billio in paypal transactions.
If you are a regular PayPal user but are concerned about the integrity of your account, you may want to consider an extra layer of protection by using something called the PayPal security key.

The PayPal Security Key (as seen above) creates random temporary security code that help safeguard your PayPal account when you log in.
The security key token, which costs $5, is an electronic device or “token” designed that is carried on a key ring which creates a new security code for the user every 30 seconds. PayPal users with the security token must enter the temporary code along with their standard username and password in order to sign into their Paypal account.

Security Key Ordering and Set Up

Setup of the Paypal Security key is very simple. To order or setup your security key, users just log on to their PayPal account. Once logged in just click on “Edit Profile” to get to the “Account Information” screen. From their click on “Get the PayPal Security Key”.

Once you have your key, revisit the same screen but this time click on “Activate your PayPal or VIP (Verisign Identity Protection) token” to get to the following screen.
Follow the three steps shown below and click on activate. Once you’ve activated your security key, log out of Paypal.

The next time you log in to PayPal, you’ll need to enter your user name, password, and the security code generated by by pressing the button on your token.
This type of additional security is known as two-factor authentication and is used by leading financial institutions as an additional means to protect consumers and reduce losses from online fraud such as phishing attacks.
For $5, the Security key is the recommended way to give your PayPal account an extra level of security.
If you decide that you don’t want this extra level of security, you can de-activate it by logging onto your PayPal account with your security key. Once logged on, simply click on “Deactivate” which can be found on the Profile tab of your PayPal Security Key page.

This tutorial will show you how to remove Uninstall XP Guardian 2010. Previously, I featured an article on Uninstalling Anti Virus 2009. The process is very similar, however I have also included a link to a registry file that will help you remove xp guardian 2010.

The process is as follows:

1) import the registry file I have created.
Download it here

Reboot your PC immediately after you have imported the reg.fix file.

2) Download MalwareBytes Anti-Malware product. it is one of the few anti malware programs that can actually do the job!
